The German photographer Barbara Klemm, well-known above all as a socio-political chronicler, who for many years photographed for the newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, was encouraged in 2012 by the ALTANA Cultural Foundation to make her way on the tracks of the draughtsman Goethe to photograph the motifs the poet had captured in sketches and ink drawings on his journeys and walks through Bohemia and Germany, Italy and Switzerland. The idea was not a matter of re-photography but of her own experience of these places. The exhibition in the Casa di Goethe, curated by Maria Gazzetti, presents a selection of 45 black and white pictures by the artist who lives in Frankfurt am Main. A small selection of Goethe’s drawing motifs accompany the photos.
