The Casa di Goethe is opening its art repository and presenting new additions from recent years. These include artists from Goethe’s circle, such as Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein and Jakob Philipp Hackert. They are represented in the exhibition with extraordinary drawings that are being shown here for the first time. In addition, greater attention is being paid to the German artists’ association in Rome in the 19th century, whose historical library is preserved in the museum: the paintings of these artists, including Oswald Achenbach and Wilhelm Brücke, are now increasingly finding their way into the collection. In the 20th and 21st centuries, the works of Filippo de Pisis, Henry Moore and Claudia Berg open up new perspectives on Goethe’s work. From the 18th century to the present day: a broad artistic spectrum that illustrates the Casa di Goethe’s collection activities.
