Claudia Nordhoff, research assistant at Casa di Goethe, guides visitors through the current temporary exhibition ‘Art Histories’ and presents the newly acquired works on the collection. In addition to artists from Goethe’s circle, such as Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein and Jacob Philipp Hackert, the show also highlights 19th-century works by members of the German Artists’ Association. It also introduces a further focus of the Casa di Goethe’s collecting activity: artists who were inspired by Goethe and his works in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Among these is German artist Claudia Berg, who has dedicated herself to Goethe’s “Italian Journey” with an album of drypoint engravings, creating essential and original landscapes. The artist presents her works in conversation with Claudia Nordhoff.
The event will be held in German. No advance registration is required. Admission is free.
