20.00 Le Affinità Elettive, by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, 1996 (98 minutes)
22.00 Fantasia, by Walt Disney, 1940 (124 minutes)

The Taviani Brothers’ Le Affinità Elettive reworks Goethe’s novel of the same name with film stars like Isabelle Huppert. The plot is transferred from Germany to Tuscany and set in the Napoleonic era.

Walt Disney’s 1940 Fantasia is a classic in film history. Among the various pieces of classical music accompanied by Disney’s animated drawings is the symphonic poem The Sorcerer’s Apprentice by Paul Dukas, based on the poem of the same name by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in which Mickey Mouse takes on the leading role of the sorcerer’s apprentice.
