The starting point of the walk is the Casa di Goethe at 11.00 am.
We will follow the stops around the Corso that Claudia Kayser-Kadereit has described in her ‘Musical Travel Guide to Rome’. We will take a focussed look at the history of music and current musical life, away from the crowds of tourists.
Santa Trinità dei Monti not only crowns the Spanish Steps: it inspired a composing ‘barbaro tedesco’, and French opera chansons were played at the inauguration of the organ. A German pianist enjoyed the ‘passeggiata’ along the church to introduce the French scholarship holders of the Villa Medici to Bach and Beethoven. Franz Liszt lived in various prominent places in Rome, we cross his paths and echo his love of Rome.
The ‘genius loci’, explanations by the author and audio samples via QR codes turn the place, work and person into a three-dimensional experience.
Please bring an internet-enabled smartphone and headphones.
