Dancer, singer, artists’ muse and femme fatale: Lady Hamilton, who grows up in humble conditions in England, marries Sir William Hamilton, British ambassador, antique collector and Vesuvius explorer in Naples. With her attitudes based on antique models, she enthrals artists, writers and composers alike. She impressed Goethe, too, during his stay in Italy. The exhibition in the Casa di Goethe tells the story of the life of this extraordinary woman in the context of her times and on the occasion of her 250th anniversary.
