Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau’s “Faust” from 1926 is one of the silent films par excellence and suggestively incorporates motifs from ancient tales of the material, the literary dramatization by Christopher Marlowe and from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s tragedy of the same name.
The project “Devil’s Thrill” arose from the idea of commenting musically on the film from today’s perspective. The students of the Applied Music Composition course of the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Rome have composed pieces especially for the Night of the Museums 2023, which accompany key scenes of the film and will be performed live during the projection.
