In Johann Gottfried Seume’s footsteps – a walk through Rome

Saturday, 16.3.23 – 10 a.m. Meetingpoint Casa di Goethe, Via del Corso 18

In 1802, Johann Gottfried Seume travelled on foot from Grimma in Saxony to Syracuse in Sicily. Together we will walk from the Casa di Goethe to his Roman quarters, the Palazzo Strozzi on Largo Argentina, and then follow the route Seume took southwards on the Via Appia Antica. His work will accompany us: We will read from the “Walk to Syracuse” at various stations.

Itinerary

Museum Casa di Goethe (10 a.m.) – Pantheon – Largo Argentina: Palazzo Strozzi (Seume’s accomodation in 1802) – Roman Forum – Porta San Sebastiano

LUNCH: Montarozza Restaurant, Via Appia Antica 4 (1.30 pm)
